“Educational Project for Underpriviledged Children of Sundarban… an initiative of BANCHBO“
Fulfill the dreams of many days…
“Banchbo” from its inception in 1995, working with primary education for local school children and involved with health for marginalized children and seniors as well in Garia and adjacent slum area.
In 2005, people of Indranarayanpur village, Pathar Pratima Block of Sundarban have approached for education of local marginalized kids and we started a Supplementary school there. Individuals and Sulekha Works Ltd. financed through their CSR activities to run the school.
In 2017, we received a plot of land measuring 3 kottahs from local resident Mr. Apurba Kumar Gantait in Panchamer Bazar Village of Pathar Pratima Block. In 2018, Banchbo Vikashita Pre Primary and Primary School is formed. It is a school where pre-primary and primary education with modern concepts and with emphasis to English are arranged / initiated.
It is an unique endeavor at Sundarban where education is neglected, Banchbo Vikashita School has brought new methodology at per with Kolkata and other cities. Many of the students are 1st generation learner. But gradually guardians are taking interest for education of their wards. Students enrollment are increasing and this has become as a topic of the local discussion.
Banchbo members have a dream of well equipped school building. They asked for help from the individuals and corporate bodies for construction of the school building.
Second Vivekananda Bridge Tollways Company Pvt. Ltd. has considered our appeal and provide grant to construct the school building.
Willis Towers Watson-Acclaris Business Solution Pvt. Ltd. has encouraged us by providing a grant for “Safe Drinking Water and Safe Sanitation” for the students and for the people of the neighboring areas and for the sanitary toilets in the school building. Gradually Electricity in the school building is arranged and water pump is installed.
The two storied building was inaugurated on 5th January 2020, local MLA Mr. Samir Kumar Jana, officials from local civic bodies, distinguished guests from Kolkata took part in the colorful program.
Our dream for school building is fulfilled. We find it pleasure to inform you that no school fee is charged. Course material, dress materials, shoes, umbrellas are distributed free. Entire education procedure are conducted at free of cost.
In “Sneha” project many individuals contributed Rs.10000/- to bear cost of education for a single student.
It is possible only through your good wishes and blessings.
We hope the same will be continued in the days to come for benefits of the many more marginalized children of Sundarban.

Vikashita – a brighter future: Banchbo in Education in Sundarban
Vikashita a school in distant part of Sundarban (Panchamer Bazar in Pathar Pratima Block) is engaged to provide education from pre-primary to primary level.Initially it was working as a supplementary school (at Indranarayanpur Sukanta-Nazrul MSK School) for a considerable period of more than one decade since 2005.
Gradually we felt the need of a modern scientific conceptualized education from the grass root level. Local residents also felt the same need and requested us for the same
Inaugural Ceremony of Banchbo Vikashita School has been done in new premises on 1st May 2017. Foundation stone laying ceremony for our own building in the adjacent land is also done. Local MLA Mr. Samir Kumar Jana and distinguish guests were present in both the occasions.
Classes in the school have been started. There are total 40 students out of which 23 newly admitted students attending classes from Pre-Primary to class IV. The school rums at total free of cost, without taking any tution fees and cost of study materials from the students.
Our seven numbers of dedicated teachers (2 Post Graduate, 2 Graduate & 3 Secondary) lead by Mrs. Kuhu Chowdhury (MA & Persuing MBA),Mrs. Nayana Barua (BA),Mrs. Anamika Saha (BA) from Banchbo (honorary) teach the students with modern concepts, aids, flash cards etc with PPT presentation. The school is started with meager arrangements. One Art teacher is also there to explore inner talents of ourkids.
The students are provided with books, exercise books, writing materials, geometrical instruments etc. Regular health checkups are conducted for both students and parents Specialist Camp are organisied periodically for both for students & parents. Medicines are distributed among students and their parents free. Nutritional supplements are distributed under Nutrition Program & Dresses are provided to the students. Educational stipend for deserving students to support higher studies. Recreational activities are organised regularly and students are encouraged to take active part in whatever capacity they can. Educational tours and nature camps are also conducted to teach the importance of preservation of natural resources that Sunderban offers
