Resource Speaker on Ethics in Geriatrics at Jadavpur University…
Very recently on 21st December, attended 2 days UGC Sponsored International Seminar on “Reflection of Ethics in Shaping our Socio-Cultural Practices and Attitude : A Paradigm Shift” organised by the Department of Education, Jadavpur University in collaboration with Byanjanbarna Foundation at Nazrul Bhaban, Jadavpur University as a Resource Speaker. Prof. Amitava Dutta, Honorable Pro Vive Chancellor of the Jadavpur University inaugurated the conference in presence of many distinguished academicians from different premier universities.
Distinguished Professors from different departments of various premier universities were present as resource speakers, with whom I am certainly honored to share a platform.
I delivered lecture on the Topic:
“Developing an Ethical framework : Urgent need in Geriatric Care”. Academicians, Educationists, Policy Makers, University/College/School Faculty Members, Librarians, UG/PG/MPhil/Ph.D. Students and Scholars and Post Doctoral Fellows from different universities of West Bengal and neighbouring States and even from Bangladesh were participated in this seminar.
It is really good to see that subject like Geriatrics being considered for discussion in such sort of seminars at various university levels. I think it is a great achievement for those of us who have been working on this for a long time under the patronage of Geriatric Society of India. In my case, my organization Banchbo has also played a major role in taking this movement forward.
Since the subject of geriatrics is not known to most people, it is not very easy to aware about ethics in geriatrics. But I tried my level best to make it understandable to everyone. The spontaneous responses at the end of my deliberation from the most learned participants really surprised me and gratified me as well.
I am very happy and honored to have Dr. Sankar Nath, who is a person I have known for many years and have great respect for, an eminent doctor and writer as a co resource speaker at this seminar.
Mr. Samir Kumar Dasgupta from Banchbo was accompany with me this time also like many times before. Definitely pleasurable for me. Along with him this time UG scholar from National Law University, Odissa, who is doing internship training at Banchbo Mr. Sourodeep Paul was also attend the seminar.
